Homemade Brown Sugar
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
16 tablespoons
  • 200 g granulated sugar 1 cup
  • 20 g molasses 1 Tbsp, for light brown sugar — or 40 g (2 Tbsp) for dark brown sugar
  • Put the sugar in a medium bowl.
  • Pour the molasses over the sugar: 1 tablespoon for light brown sugar, 2 tablespoons for dark.
  • Mix with a fork, working out the lumps, until the color is even and the sugar looks like the bagged kind.
  • Use right away, or store airtight at room temperature.
Adapted from a Facebook reel by Honestly Amanda. Amounts: 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar plus molasses — 1 Tbsp (20 g) for light brown sugar, 2 Tbsp (40 g) for dark. Store airtight at room temperature; it keeps like the bagged kind and can be softened the same way if it hardens. Naturally gluten-free. Not yet made in our kitchen.
